YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
We are organising a fun event challenging Burnden RR’s to a club race on Wednesday 4th of July. The route is approximately 6 mile essentially around Anglezarke reservoir starting and finishing at the Bowling Green (Jubilee registration), and is therefore flattish on and off-road.
The plan is to add together the finishing times of all who complete the course and the team with the shortest time wins. This format has the following advantages.
1) Every second of every runner counts
2) Everybody’s contribution to the race is equal
3) There is no bias for age/gender or ability- the best overall club will win
4) The outcome cannot be predicted
Obviously the same number of runners have to take part therefore we need to get some idea of numbers taking part, we will also need some non-runners for timing and marshalling. Therefore please advise of your commitment to take part.
We are arranging a tasty supper at the Bay Horse after the event, and between the clubs we are buying a suitable trophy for the winning team to defend next year.
Those following recent events will note that there is very little difference between the clubs over a range of distances, therefore it should be a real nail-biter.
Once we have finalised the finer details I will forward another e-mail, in the meantime please let me know if you can take part.
No excuses now,
Pete
