Perfect day for the race with the sun just breaking through the clouds. 136 entries for the one 1mile and two 2mile laps on the pathways at Gin Pit. 3 entries from lostock David Ashworth, Stew Jones and Keith Thomas. An even paced start by the front group meant that Stew and myself could stay near the leaders with the Altringham Lady trying to break through try to set her own pace. I decided to try to stay with the 4 leaders while Stew kept to his strategy of even paced running to fit with his marathon training . Stiff muscles almost hampered Stew's race but he held Arnold Melling to a 6 second lead at the line.David worked hard and is getting back into his running , the last climb at the end of each lap testing his stamina and working up a sweat. The lady runner Olivia Walwyn of Altringham broke through eventually into second place and again I decided to try to stay with her in 3rd place. As she tired I managed to overtake and hold my place to surprisingly finish in 2nd place. Well Done all. Keith -Road Race Captain
