Two Crosses 18/25 mile Event 12th January 2009
Four Lostock runners joined the event this year, Pete Hopely , Keith , Adrian , and Pete Noble. Pete Noble getting back into long distance mode completed the 25 mile course.A late start by Pete and Keith due to toilet queues meant that their map reading skills were critical from the start as the pack of runners and walkers had long set off leaving us to chase. In typical Lostock tradition this meant that we went the wrong way after 50 metres and had to detour around the block . Similar events occured throughout the race as we endevoured to make up ground and take the initiative. Luckily the runners around us were very sympathetic as we clawed our back into a healthy position and we got to know some groups quite well due to the fact that we repeatedly had to overtake them or tag along with them to prevent us ending up in Yorkshire. Icy underfoot in places and blowy and cold over the tops but heartily enjoyed. Adrian decided to complete the 18 rather than follow Pete Noble and finished soon after Pete and Keith as they tucked into the Lamb hotpot and Apple Pie . Great event.
