Chorley Sweatshop 10 mile
Results for Chorley Sweatshop 10 mile race
Worden park
Leyland
Keith Thomas 23rd, 2nd V50 58:43
Stewart Jones 88th, 16th V45 1:07:10
Dave Clemence 99th, 5th V55 1:08:42
Emma Gregory 193rd, 32nd Lady 1:19:05
Allan Jones 196th, 9th V60 1:19:31
A very dreary day, wet, windy and on the chilly side - brightened up by Allans' tan and cheery disposition although he'd been working hard on his 'excuse' of jet lag as to any dodgy performance!!
Keith was putting his new method of 'running with his watch' to the test and I think it's fair to say he had a brilliant run finishing 23rd overall in a more than respectable time of a shade over 58 minutes.
Stewart, Dave and Allan also produced some fine running with the latter hot on my heels, could almost hear him breathing down my neck!
It's a lapped course for those that haven't done this one before, a well run race with marshalls in abundance! Mile markers on the course and the 9 mile marker was particularly welcome!
The after race fruit was plentiful and mighty tasty and most definately welcomed!
Well done chaps!

Simonstone 10k Nr Burnley 20th May
First time this race had been run so decided to have a go as a part of my hill training. Did expect it to be hilly but what a hard effort is needed to judge and get the pace right for a steady climb to beyond the 2 1/2 K point then undulating and a long down hill to the finish.Only 63 runnners on this first time out but a nice venue , a challenging event, and good views if you have the energy left to look around when you get to the top.One runner suggested it was like a fell run on tarmac.

Radcliff 10k
Well done and thanks to those who ran in the Radcliffe 10k and their supporters. Good efforts over the tracks and pathways which make it an interesting venue to race with of course the fast finish at the end around the running track field spurred on by the spectators.Exciting to watch the final dashes and personal battles at the finish particularly Emma battling to and fro with the runners along side her right into the finish funnel. Well done on your first road race for the club.Good run by Dave Clemence getting close to his PB for the race .I beat last years time in a hard race with a group of Horwich runners which I aimed to try to keep with originally but ended up overtaking them in the later stages. Felt strangely chuffed! Now we are into the Grand Prix season please try to come along to support the races as it is motivating to know that you are running for team points as well as for your own position and times.
Regards Keith
